Artist's Statement

I have been a practicing artist and art therapist for the past 25 years.

My art practice spans several art forms, from drawing, painting, printmaking, fine art photography illustration and installation.

During my Art training I was influenced by Goya, Breugal, Picasso and the Abstract Expressionists. Art therapy training and a Jungian Analysis has given me a broader vision; enabling me to embrace the creative process and allow things to happen and evolve naturally. Mark Chagall, Louise Bourgeois, the Surrealists and Cartier Bresson have all been sources of inspiration.

My private work tends to tap into the creative unconscious and is often playful, symbolic and naive.

In contrast my public art work is concerned with current events, people and place and how this impacts on me as a Deaf Artist. I use an eclectic mix of art forms as statements against cruelty and injustice.
