The South Coast’s major new film festival celebrates its third birthday this Autumn when CINECITY: The Brighton Film Festival returns to the Duke of York’s Picturehouse, Brighton’s Cineworld, Gardner Arts Centre, and venues across Brighton and Hove

An evening of Public Information Films.
From American 1950s films illustrating how soft drugs can lead to a life of crime and jazz, to classic UK 1970s warnings of rugs left on polished floors, these cautionary tales both amuse and frighten. Not recommended for the under 18s! Presented by Matt Brownsworth.

A rare expanded cinema performance from this legendary Brighton-based experimental filmmaker.

Paul Dutnall and Simon Wilkinson of Junk TV present 90 minutes of short digital films including comedies, dramas, dance films, music promos, mini-documentaries, absurdities and interactive film scores.

COSMIC SCIENCE
Incorporating slides and new electronic music, the line up, selected by Ian Helliwell features a psychedelic animated version of Fantastic Planet, NASA 8 mm documentaries, a Canadian film board animation created by observing Martians, British soldiers on LSD and a collaboration between Walerian Borowczyk and Chris Marker.
